Sony has been told to pay $90.7m (£48m) in damages and stop selling PlayStation consoles in the United States after losing a patent infringement lawsuit.

Tsk tsk tsk, Sony. Didn't anyone ever tell you that you need to ask permission before using someone else's invention/intellectual property?

Sony are appealing, and apparently whilst the appeal is being heard, the suspension of sales of the consoles and 47 games using the vibration technology does not hold.

A couple years ago, Microsoft settled with Immersion on the same matter out of court. Microsoft, however, own a nearly 10 percent stake in Immersion. According to Guardian GamesBlog, Nintendo also settled out-of-court with Immersion.
