Just to make this vaguely related to gaming, since this is a gaming blog... I emailed my former DM who continues to run the D&D game I participated in when I lived there. He and everyone in the group are fine. One of my friends, whom I met at the Trocadero arcade playing DDR, is also safe. My other friends have checked in and they're fine as well. I'm so relieved.

I'm really proud of London today. From what I have been reading, everyone has reacted calmly and admirably, considering the circumstances. My thoughts are with everyone there.

Two games that make a commentary on terrorism are worth mentioning: September 12th and Madrid.

I was fortunate enough not to be in London but it's still quite a shock. Londoners and the emergency services really pulled together to help people who needed it. I felt kinda proud too, but the main thing going through my head all day was this feeling that suddenly all that mattered was seeing family again.

Even though my friends all came out okay, I would have given almost anything to be in London to see them and give them each a hug. I haven't seen them in ages, and though it turns out that the bombings were not on a massive scale, the thought that maybe one of them might have been caught up in that and I might not see them again -- it just made me choke up. The place and the people mean a lot to me.
